About Brian
I have a long history working in Information Technology, over 20 years. Has it really been that long? My primary responsibility is leading development efforts for Iowa State University Extension. Our preferred development environment is ASP.NET, however we do have some projects that are written in classic ASP, PHP, Perl, and Cold Fusion.
In addition to doing development work, I do some system administration, web analytics, and “other duties as assigned”. I’ve worked in the same department my entire career, including a couple years when I was in college, so I’ve worked on a lot of different projects and had many different responsibility.
I started my career as a programmer, then worked into server/network administration. Next was mid-level management where I picked up experience with project management, budgets, and personnel. After a major reorganization, I took on the role of lead developer for out unit. Sometimes it seems like I’ve come full circle, accept I now have a lot more experience and responsibilities.
Work is a big part of my life, but it’s not the most important aspect. My priorities are faith, family, friends, work, woodworking, everything else, although I’m not always good as showing it. You will likely find all these things in this blog from time to time, but the primary focus of the blog will be web development, ie work.
